My efforts to find natural teething relief continue, but I think I’ve found some great options that go above and beyond!
You may remember the post where I explained why we wanted to find natural alternatives to natural baby orajel. We’ve been using Camilla the most and its definitely helping, but little Jacks wants to chew on EVERYTHING. Only, in looking up the chew toys available (shout to all the moms who were dog moms first!) I’ve been so disappointed!
As you probably know, you can’t always rely on blanket claims such as “all natural” or “uses organic ingredients,” when it comes to things for your family. Just like tricky food manufacturers do all the time, the makers of baby products love to stick these types of claims on their packaging (and especially on Amazon/product pages) so that buyers think they’re getting a product free of chemicals and other undesirable ingredients when in fact they’re not.
Surprisingly, many products for babes still use materials that contain parabens, phthalates, lead, PVC (which is basically a cocktail of phthalates, lead, cadmium, and/or organotins) and even BPA. All the yucks. These ingredients have been known to be dangerous for adults, much less little babes!
Here are some that you can trust are actually free of the gross stuff.
1. Little Toader Teething Toys, Broccoli Bites
These are great because they use Food grade silicone and food-safe color. Also free of all the chemicals.
2. Maple Teether
These are made with 100% maple wood, which is known to dent, rather than “splinter” like other types of wood. Its sanded down super smooth and never treated or coated with any chemicals.
3. Calmies – Natural Teether
This one is cool because it’s a little ball, so it’s pretty easy for your babe to grip and its shape is pretty stimulating. Also free of BPA, PVC, parabens and phthalates
4. HEVEA Panda Teether
This 100% rubber teether is likely to be a hit or miss with your babe, but if its a hit its a HIT. While free of all the yucks like phthalates, colours, PVC and BPA, some report their babes weren’t into its unique scent and taste.
5. CaaOcho Baby – All-Stage Natural Rubber Teether Fish
The grip on this little guy is easy for babes. Its shape allows them to use the teether to sooth all over, even in the molar region, so, as the name says, it’s perfect for all stages! The textures are also stimulating so they can explore the feels. And of course its free of all phthalates, colours, PVC and BPA.
6. Green Sprouts Ring Cool Soothing Teether
This one offers up the chill over the texture, for those LOs who want to just numb out. It’s made with sterilized water so can be placed in the fridge or freezer. Free of BPA, PVC, and phthalates and Nitrosamines.
